Missionaries Or Homeless

Made it to LA!! Getting here was crazy, it was thoughtful of the MTC to give us a taste of what hell is like by making us haul our luggage between three separate modes of transportation at 3 am.

I'm starting in the Gonzales 2nd area, a ward in which everyone is at least first or second cousins. Very tight knit people, and they are amazing. The members have saved us from walking/biking along highways to get home many many times #blessed

Today we toured a plantation, it was massive and SO beautiful. Tried some gumbo and got stalked by a peacock that unfortunately did not want to hear a message about Jesus.

There is a thin line between being a missionary and being homeless. We're opening this area without a sim card and limited access to a car. So we spent lots of time knocking doors begging for wifi, water, and prayers. Each morning we went out blindly, praying God would get us home. And even with the ridiculous situations we found ourselves in, so many miles from home, he has yet to fail us.

"8 I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause:
9 Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number:
10 Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields:
11 To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety." Job 5:8-11

These verses got me through this week. God is capable of delivering us over and over again. I felt Christ beside us as we committed our cause to God, and woke up each day with the faith that He would carry us the same as the day before. And He certainly gave freely this week in terms of rain upon the earth ;)

Randoms:
Mud+sweat+bike grease are permanent accessories of mission fashion.

Flash flood warnings are identical to the announcement of the purge. They take over the radio just long enough to keep us from hearing K-loves radio devotional of the day. :(

Fire ants are on the devils errand

If something tastes absolutely amazing- the secret ingredient is always butter.

Cajun food knocked my socks off, it's a new favorite for me and the pantry roaches are fans as well.

I thought it was gross that I would shower in the morning then spend the day sweating, but it turns out the afternoon showers got me wayyy covered on that front. And on the back. And somehow under my rain coat?? Louisiana rain is an immersive experience for sure.

Yesterday we got off of a call with a potential, and he was so interested in the plan of salvation and asked so many questions. When we hang up the call we partied so hard. Core mission memory for sure. So it was a week full of good because it was a week full of God!! Love you all!
