Praise The Lord For Southern Women
We have found and met so many fun people this week, one of which invited us in to give us water, then asked us if we wanted to see his coolest tattoo. When we said yes we did not expect it to be below the belt, but he definitely just turned around and dropped his pants. He was right though, it was a cool tattoo.
There was one interaction that was easily the highlight of the week. We found Hunter sitting on the side of the road, and I really felt like the Spirit just grabbed the wheel. I went and sat next to him and he told us about his time in the war, loosing all his friends, and the traumas he's experienced. We asked to pray with him, and as I prayed I really didn't know where my words came from but I prayed for some real specific and hefty blessings on this guy. My testimony of the priesthood had grown ten fold by the time we said amen.
One guy we visited named Kenny bore one of the most tear-filled and beautiful testimonies I've ever heard. He has so much love for family history and I swear as he spoke I could see his angelic family gathered around him. Made me think that if I were in the spirit world there is no where I'd rather be than supporting my family, so just imagine how many angels we have with us all the time- arms wrapped around us, carrying us along.
There were some magnificent storms this week, with lightning and thunder so bright and loud that we couldn't even try to sleep through it. One night we just sat at our desks and watched. Its a terrifying kind of beautiful. God is so powerful.
Today we tagged along with the senior missionary couple to rope-drop costco, it was awesome cus my companion had never been to a costco, so I got to show her the theraputic magic of shopping in bulk.
Southern women are THE BEST. We have been cooked for, driven around, hyped up, and bear-hugged by the sweetest and toughest women I have ever met. I can't even begin to tell you all the funny moments we've had. And the Southern accents just make them that much better.
There are so many Southern delicacies that I can't even keep up with. My fav this week was Blue Bell ice cream. Idk what they put in it to make it so spectacular, but let's be real it's probably butter.
My thought for this week:
Faith is the foundation. Faith and doubt cannot exist in the same mind- so make the right choice. Choose to believe that miracles will happen. A witness of our love of the Savior is our faith in him, which means we trust in his good intentions. He does not cause trouble, he gets us out of it. He doesn't plan for our pain, he plans for our salvation from it. I would encourage you all to start truly living like you love Christ, because he lived and died to show his love for you.
