Be Of Good Cheer






Busy week! We had more lessons on Friday alone than we've had this whole transfer =)


I started the week on LSU campus for exchanges, and recited the first vision for my first time in a lesson! I was shocked how much it affected me- one word in I was tearing up right there in the student union building. It is the truth! Joseph Smith really did recieve the priesthood to restore the full gospel to the earth. And I'm so grateful to live in the latter days!


We finally got around to visiting Donaldsonville at the far end of our area, it's a very small trailer park town over the river and we are super limited in how we visit since we're white girls:). But on Friday we scheduled visits to all our media referrals over there, and the miracles overflowed. In all five homes we taught the full resto lesson and either the plan of salvation or gospel of Jesus christ lessons on top. These people are truly elect!! We even tracked down a member who'd been baptized 20 years ago and gotten lost in the shuffle- but the Shepard has brought His lost sheep back:))
I loved getting to see how much God loves these people- even though you wouldn't think it by looking at their temporal circumstances. There has never been a time on earth when service and compassion were more critical. God really showed me this week how much need there is in the world, and how selfish I'd be to ignore it.

 
It is so so fun though to help them understand the BOM. Louisiana is all the way at the bottom of the ranks for education quality, so the reading comprehension of alot of people is not great. The book of mormon is so confusing to most the people we teach, yet they so clearly love it. The spirit can make very weak things become very VERY strong yall! 


One thing I adore about gonzo is the culture. People from all kinds of backgrounds love each other here- and they show it through prayer talk. Last Sunday we had some friends come to church and they were hollering amens the whole meeting. It was awesome. It's even better when I'm praying in a lesson and get a hallelujah or a praise Jesus during my prayer. Makes me feel like I'm doing my job right at least every once in a while ;)

Merry Christmas yall! It was the longest week of my life let me tell ya all about it -Went to Clinton on exchanges! Stalked a guy on Google maps and took him a BOM mwahahah -The weather dropped to like 7 so President put us on apartment arrest-southerners lose their brains when the roads are icy  -Christmas ZoCo with Hattiesburg! Took some pics, sang some songs and had district dinner at Newks  -Mall contacted till we dropped but had to sneak around the army of security guards -Got a new car- the mission mini van! And she's a beauty named Judy -Sister Andersen got her ears pierced!  -Had Christmas with some members and got loaded up on presents -Caroled to our apartment complex with the strategy of knocking multiple doors and singing extra loud -Meal appointment hopped on Christmas and ate so much I wanted to die #thatswhatChristmasmeanstome I hope yall had a great Christmas! M&M Week

Hey yall! This week President Amos had us try to spend every waking moment of the day with members! This member & missionary initiative took alot of prep so it was fun to finally live it up! We are teaching a couple families, and hearing our members bear testimony to them was heavenly. Being a missionary is such a privilege!  One inactive member we visited asked us to feed her horses, so we went out looking for the pasture. Didn't take long to realized that we were in it! Soon we had a couple very spirited horses pushing us up against the house. Got a couple fat kisses from one of them so at least my mom can rest assured that there was no shortage of affection for her missionary this week.  I wish I could tell more stories, but alot of our friends are on post and we can't share much about the activity in Fort Polk.  In one of President Nelson's talks from conference he said, "The adversary has other disturbing tactics. God Calls Mandeville To Repentance

This week was filled to the brim!! Sister van Stam left to go to BR so we're a trio this transfer until Sister Beazer goes home in August!  The heat was unreal, the humidity made it feel like 110 all week!! I passed out twice on this dudes porch and it was probably cus of the heat, or it was the fact that he was bashing us out of our minds.  We drove to the mission home Saturday morning to pick up Sister Beazer, and got to see a few missionaries get picked up by their parents. Totally didn't make me trunky:) We had an insane miracle with Caitlyn!! We felt a prompting to invite her to move up her date to next week. When we got to her house she beat us to it! Said she'd had a prompting to move it to the same date we'd been thinking! So now we're planning a tism and a temple trip for right after!!  A couple crazy storms hit us this weekend, with lightning straight up striking in our parking lot and thunder that shook the apartment!! God unleashed the call to repentance
