Last Week In Gonzo
Crazy week! Me and my comp are getting emergency transfered out of Gonzales- she's going to Pride and I'm going to Leesville! I'm so sad to say goodbye to gonzo, we just put two families on date :( But I told the elders that if they fail our people then I'll bike back here and baptize them myself.
But my last week here has been powerful, sentimental and sooo busy! Elder Abren turned 24, and we made him a cake with redbull in it- it was actually really good even though we just pulled the recipe out of the sky.
The senior couple missionaries moved out! We hauled all their furniture and boxes out- Elder Abney and I were in the truck loading crates and I tell you I've never sweat more in my life. Not an inch of that trunk is empty, it was the workout I never knew I needed.
At service this week I taught some adorable old ladies how to blanket stitch, and made ourselves some cute lil puppets for the women and children's shelter. They were so fun to talk to! You're never too old to learn something new :)
At a part-member families house this week we were challenged to eat the hottest chip in the world, with the deal that he would come to church if we succeeded. Elder Abren took it like a champ and sat in silence while beads of sweating rolled down his face. Elder Puzey couldn't bring himself to try it, Sister Huguley finished the challenge but did it rolling on the ground, and I took a a teeny bite and immediately felt the flames of hell coat my entire digestive system. I definitely failed the challenge but we succeeded at getting our friend to church! Also got a criminalizing video out of it, Elder Puzey has been blackmailing me with it ever since.
We had some tricky situations with street contacting this week, in one trailer park a man came screeching up to us in his massive truck and shouted that white people weren't welcome there. Funny he'd say that because as we went ahead and street contacted we had multiple men seem very very very welcoming. We decided that was an area for the elders:)
Spiritual thought this week comes from the man the myth the legend- C.S. Lewis!
He said that he doesn't believe God experiments on or tests our faith and love to find out their quality- He already knows it. Sometimes our trials are revelations to ourselves that we have the strength and the faith to survive.
Keep trusting in your Father in Heaven, He will deliver you!
Shoutout my second fam- The Buhlers you are my angels!! The package came when I needed it most:)
