Dub Point!!

Image
Such a full week! We drove to BR for T-point and spent the night in Gonzo with my old quadmates!! Stayed up late gabbing about this last transfer then crashed on their couch.  Got assigned as the designated driver so I am a happy camper- TIWI however, is not. Speed limits are unbearably slow in Mississippi:)  Everyone here is a big LSU hater so that's a switch up from my last areas, if you aren't an Ole Miss fan here then you might as well go die in a hole.  On Friday Elder Renlund and his wife came to visit our mission! President called it W-point since it was a fat dub to host an apostle. We woke up at 5 to load up and travel the 3 hrs to BR, and we got to carpool with Sister Miller my MTC comp! It was a partyyyyy!! We sang "We'll bring the world His truth" to Elder and Sister Renlund, and when they started crying so did the rest of us. Such a spiritual high.  Also, Renlund had me and Sis Williams stand in front of the whole mission and help with a lesson he was

100 Days A Missionary

Image
It hit 65 degrees for a few days this week and no one knew what to do. We wore sweaters on sweaters and sweatpants under our dresses. We looked ridiculous- but cozy:)  This week we fasted to find a Melchizedek Priesthood holder in our spanish area. The odds were pretty much against us so it was a miracle when we got a call from the Elders saying they had a spanish guy that just arrived here from Puerto Rico, and is already a member!!  This week at church we had 5 people pull up that we didn't expect to see! It was so fun to have Sister Starling elbow me and say, "look who's here!" And then a few moments later she'd do it again, and again, and again.  My girl Misty has been through multiple surgeries and hadn't been to church in months. When we saw her at church she happily reported that despite throwing up multiple times, swelling so bad that she couldn't fit into her shoes, and waking up to the worst hair day of her life, (fellas just trust me on this one

M&M Week

Hey yall! This week President Amos had us try to spend every waking moment of the day with members! This member & missionary initiative took alot of prep so it was fun to finally live it up! We are teaching a couple families, and hearing our members bear testimony to them was heavenly. Being a missionary is such a privilege!  One inactive member we visited asked us to feed her horses, so we went out looking for the pasture. Didn't take long to realized that we were in it! Soon we had a couple very spirited horses pushing us up against the house. Got a couple fat kisses from one of them so at least my mom can rest assured that there was no shortage of affection for her missionary this week.  I wish I could tell more stories, but alot of our friends are on post and we can't share much about the activity in Fort Polk.  In one of President Nelson's talks from conference he said, "The adversary has other disturbing tactics. Among them are his efforts to blur the line be

1 Road, 2 Tracks, 3 Sisters

This week I got a feel for truly how small Leesville is, we have more train tracks than main roads. But this place is straight up blessed.  Having so many friends on post has been the coolest ever, except that our friend Ryan found out he's getting deployed to Iraq. The sacrifices our soldiers make is so beyond me that I never feel I properly express my gratitude to them. But I still try.  There have been so many finding miracles this week! The spirit has led us to lessons with kids on the street, biker gangs, a polynesian man that has been holding on to his BOM from past missionaries for years, and a family that wildly resembles the Duck Dynasty crew. God is so good. We also had zone conference! It was absolutely amazing and all I can say is God bless President and Sister Amos for never failing to make us laugh!  I hope you all would go read Jeffery R Hollands talk, "The Inconvenient Messiah." If you're trying to get humbled, this talk is the place to start.  As we s

Operation: Split The Stake!

Leesville is BEAUTIFUL. I never want to leave.  The STLs I'm in a trio with are both at the end of their mission! It's kinda been crazy because they both are receiving big time revelation for their post-mission lives and it's rubbing off on me a little:) Also GEN CONF?!?! Whaaat so good. If any of yall missed the Saturday morning session go watch it right now.  The stake I'm serving in is mega huge, and our new stake president is working hard on our initiative from the First Presidency to split the Alexandria stake! We sat in on the high council meeting to discuss the vision for the next 5 years and the spirit was so insanely strong as we read the direction from God to prepare this area to form multiple branches and build a temple. (Mississippi is one of only a few states in the US left without a temple, and Louisiana only has the one in Baton Rouge.)  In Leesville our ward is mostly soldiers that live on Fort Polk, and all the friends we're teaching are soldiers to
