Daryl's 13th Birthday

It was the week of member work!! Had the famous Canterberry burger, it was the size of my face, and made lots of visits with our members! This ward is HOME!! I love them dearly and can't wait to spend the rest of my mission here ;)  We also got T-news! I'm staying in LB and getting a new comp!  This week I felt really fired up about obedience and effort. We are given the gift of agency for us to use it!! God rarely outlines one single path for us to find purpose and joy- he gives us principles and let's us choose our way!! There's a quote from Elder Oaks that highlights this: "With greatly increased free time and vastly more alternatives for its use, it is prudent to review the fundamental principles that should guide us. Temporal circumstances change, but the eternal laws and principles that should guide our choices never change." This is never a better time to repent than now!! There is so much more light and knowledge waiting for us if we'll only endure

Mardi Gras But Actually This Week

This week was a ton of zone leadership stuff-missionaries be wild- which was good work but our stats were buns:)  It was a fire week tho! Had an exchange with the hermanas, sister sanchez and I worked Long Beach and ended up IN a Mardi Gras parade with the OG elders.  Once we figured out how to leave we took off running through the crowd and got straight assaulted by some flying beads lol. Such a fun day.  Our WML Brother Lee had us over for dinner on the navy base! As we drove through it, past tanks and barracks, he and his daughter were jamming out to the Star Wars theme- very patriotic.  Love yall and have a great week!!

Mardi Gras!

Yet another stellar week that absolutely soared over my head. 7 months out here came and went too fast. The prank war has respawned in my life with the Orange Grove elders. This week we stole their 5 1/2 ft statue of a video game character and they stole our bikes- by carrying them home while they rode their own bikes. Menaces.  Zone conference was a blast as always!! There's only like 2 people in the ward that play piano- so everyone decided that I was the best choice to play at our baptism this week, now I'm begging God to bless me with musical talent in 48 hrs.  It's Mardi Gras!! People decorate more for this than Christmas! Definitely staying away from the parades tho- those things are naughty  We also had zoom MLC! There weren't any other peeps in the church building so we had to set up outside- a little chilly and poor connection. 2/5 stars.  Love yall! Trust the Lord and fear not!!

Mormon Midwife

This is easily the most country, southern area I've been in- and it's incredible. I've learned so much about country music and accents- here's some of my favorite words: Guvport  catsup  Allamoonium foil  Tahmatas and pahtatas  This week started with health and safety day, when we deep clean our whole apartment and get trained on mission rules. Best nap of my mission. We did service for a homie named Fransisco, our district pulled up ready to do the hard labor that missionaries usually do for him- and ended up folding paper airplanes for 4 hrs so they could throw them at a Mardi Gras parade. Had lots of laughs tho and got the tour of his aviation museum. The elders apartment randomly has a ton of really old church books for women and they keep sneaking them into our car!! They're good for some light reading at stoplights. My favorite is Mormon Midwife.  We did a ton of inactive work this week, one visit in particular was crazy awesome- they said they hadn't been
