Ain't No Thang!

Image
It was a speedy but full week! We had an emergency stake conference to reorganize the stake presidency, so we got to hear from Elder Craig and Dunn of the Seventy! Craig said his favorite word he'd learned here in the south was "thang" so now my theme for this week is "ain't no thang," since we said it about pretty much everything. Get stuck ankle deep in the mud to get to a friends front door? Ain't no thang. Stand in the torrential rain to back the car out? Ain't no thang. Spend 20 miles to get to the Mississippi River just for the bridge to be closed? Ain't no thang. Hold every district meeting outside in blazing wet heat because an elder has covid? Ain't no thang. Resist temptation and strive for righteousness all the years of our mortal life? AINT NO THANG!!! It really was a great week though, all of our rejection and scheduling struggles left us with ample free time to connect to the spirit in study. Which all paid off last night when w

Praise The Lord For Southern Women

We have found and met so many fun people this week, one of which invited us in to give us water, then asked us if we wanted to see his coolest tattoo. When we said yes we did not expect it to be below the belt, but he definitely just turned around and dropped his pants. He was right though, it was a cool tattoo.     There was one interaction that was easily the highlight of the week. We found Hunter sitting on the side of the road, and I really felt like the Spirit just grabbed the wheel. I went and sat next to him and he told us about his time in the war, loosing all his friends, and the traumas he's experienced. We asked to pray with him, and as I prayed I really didn't know where my words came from but I prayed for some real specific and hefty blessings on this guy. My testimony of the priesthood had grown ten fold by the time we said amen.     One guy we visited named Kenny bore one of the most tear-filled and beautiful testimonies I've ever heard. He has so much love f

Finding And Grinding

Image
This week flew by, we really put our heads down and got to work. We straight up have a blank area book so the finding grind has been real. We can't knock doors so we try to get people to approach us, giving out free Jesus books is our most successful way of finding- it is seriously awesome to see the faith of people willing to pull over for teenagers with sweaty faces and homemade posters.  Unfortunately it does mean we find alot of people outside our boundary and gotta hand them off to other missionaries:(( but we trust God's plan for their conversion and keep our heads up. My cool comp is an ASL missionary, so every night she does language study which is an hour of listening to music while she signs the lyrics. It's such a fun stress reliever after getting chiefed all day by bible-bashers :)) From the interactions we've had this week, I've seen one common theme emerge.  The book of mormon changes EVERYTHING!  It's critical to our happiness that we are constant

Missionaries Or Homeless

Made it to LA!! Getting here was crazy, it was thoughtful of the MTC to give us a taste of what hell is like by making us haul our luggage between three separate modes of transportation at 3 am.  I'm starting in the Gonzales 2nd area, a ward in which everyone is at least first or second cousins. Very tight knit people, and they are amazing. The members have saved us from walking/biking along highways to get home many many times #blessed Today we toured a plantation, it was massive and SO beautiful. Tried some gumbo and got stalked by a peacock that unfortunately did not want to hear a message about Jesus.  There is a thin line between being a missionary and being homeless. We're opening this area without a sim card and limited access to a car. So we spent lots of time knocking doors begging for wifi, water, and prayers. Each morning we went out blindly, praying God would get us home. And even with the ridiculous situations we found ourselves in, so many miles from home, he has

Safe Arrival

Dear Parents of Sister Emily Marie Frasure,     We want to let you know that your daughter arrived safely to the Louisiana Baton Rouge Mission with her group of 19 new missionaries. She had her first interview with President Amos, ate dinner at the Mission Home and then hopefully had a good night's sleep.  Today she met her new trainer/companion and is on her way to her first area!      Thank you for sharing these wonderful missionaries with us!      Sister Meredith LBRM Secretary 2012308@churchofjesuschrist.org 225-664-1178
